Exports
Export EnaResearch datasets as pseudonymized files - CSV, Excel, SPSS and R - with a data cutoff, manifest and checksum so every file can be reproduced.
- Admin panel
An export produces a downloadable ZIP file from a dataset version. Each export records its data cutoff: the moment up to which data is included. With the same version and cutoff, EnaResearch produces the same content again, which a manifest and a checksum let you verify. Files contain pseudonyms only, never names, identifiers or birth dates.
Required role
- A member of the study team with the export permission (owners and researchers).
Export a dataset
Open the study → Datasets and click Export on the dataset (or Export version N in its versions).
The export is Queued, then Generating. You can leave the page; the file appears under Exports when it is Ready.
Click Download. The row shows "Data up to …" (the cutoff), the number of participants and rows, and "Available until …".
Files are deleted after 30 days (File deleted). The manifest and checksum stay, and you can produce the export again from the same version and data cutoff.
What is in the file
Measurement dataset
| File | Content |
|---|---|
measurements.csv | One row per measurement or time bucket; raw rows carry quality flags, bucket rows a flagged count |
participants.csv | Pseudonym, sex, age at start and status |
quality.csv | Completeness and flag counts per participant and measurement type |
events.csv | Hospital stays and clinical events as recorded at the cutoff (only if Include clinical records is on) |
manifest.json | The definition, version, data cutoff, catalog and transformation versions, quality rules and checksums |
Variable dataset
| File | Content |
|---|---|
variables.csv | One row per participant, one column per variable; an empty cell is a missing value |
missing.csv | The reason for each missing value |
codebook.csv | Name, label, description, type, unit, version, formula and its summary |
participants.csv | Pseudonym, sex, age at start and status |
variables.xlsx | Excel: data and codebook sheets (if selected) |
variables.sav | SPSS with variable labels (if selected) |
variables.R | A base R script that reads the CSV files and sets labels and units (if selected) |
manifest.json | Definition, pinned variable versions, data cutoff and checksums |
The checksum (content_sha256) covers the data files; the codebook and format files have their own checksums in the manifest.
Privacy in exports
Exports contain pseudonyms (P001), sex and age at start only. Names, identifier codes and birth dates are never included. Internal notes and clinical note text are not exported. Every export is written to the audit log.
Downloaded files are your responsibility
Once downloaded, a file is outside EnaResearch. Store and share it according to your ethics approval and your organization's data protection rules.
