AI assistant
The optional EnaResearch AI assistant suggests analyses, interprets approved results and drafts report text. It is off by default and receives only aggregates.
- Admin panel
The AI assistant helps researchers on the Analyses page: it suggests suitable analyses for a research question, explains an approved analysis result in plain language and drafts methods and results sections. It never computes statistics and never creates, approves or runs analyses; the statistics engine computes only from approved plans. The assistant is off by default.
Required role
- Turning it on: an Owner (System management).
- Using it: a member of the study team with the export permission.
Turn the assistant on
Go to System management → AI assistant.
Check Connection. It must say Configured: the provider key is set on the server by whoever operates your EnaResearch installation. The key is never entered in the panel.
Turn on Turn on the assistant. The Provider and Model in use are shown.
What the assistant receives
- Only aggregate information: variable definitions, participant and value counts (counts below 5 are sent as
<5, and other parts are coarsened so a hidden count cannot be worked out from the total), and test output without single-person minimum or maximum values or hidden cells. - Never participant rows, pseudonyms, names or birth dates.
Do not type personal data into the research question.
Use it on the Analyses page
- Suggest analyses: write your Research question and click Suggest. The assistant proposes variables and tests; each plan is checked by the server, and the Adequacy line shows how many participants have a value in every plan variable. Click Create draft analysis to turn a suggestion into a draft, then review and approve it yourself.
- Interpret: on an approved analysis with a result, presents and interprets it in plain language (Presentation, Interpretation, Limitations). The result itself does not change.
- Report draft: choose approved analyses with results; the assistant drafts Methods, Results and Points for discussion. Use Copy to take the text.
- Assistant history: the last 50 requests in the study, with the kind, the status (Accepted, Rejected, Error), the provider and model, and token counts.
Checks on every answer
Every number in an answer is checked against the analysis results. If an answer contains numbers that have no match, it is rejected and kept in the history with the unverified numbers listed. Every request is logged with the provider, model and a digest of the context, and written to the audit log.
Review before use
AI-generated text is for research use only and not for clinical decisions. Review every text before you use it in a report or publication.
