Manual measurements

Enter pain and fatigue scores, Borg exertion and lab values such as hemoglobin and CRP for EnaResearch participants, and correct or delete them with history.

Applies to:
  • Admin panel
Last updated: Verified with EnaResearch 0.15.0

Some values do not come from a phone or wearable: symptom scales and laboratory results. The study team enters them in the participant panel. They join the standard data with the source Manual entry and can be used in variables, datasets and analyses like any other measurement.

Required role

  • A member of the study team with participant management permission (owners and researchers).

Available measurement types

These types are in the catalog category Clinical measures (manual). Devices never send them.

TypeUnit or scale
Pain (NRS 0–10)0–10
Fatigue (NRS 0–10)0–10
Borg perceived exertion (6–20)6–20
Hemoglobing/dL
C-reactive protein (CRP)mg/L
White blood cells (WBC)10^9/L
Creatininemg/dL
Albuming/dL

Select the types you need under Permitted measurement types when you create the study. The Manually entered measurements section appears in the participant panel only if the study permits at least one of them.

Add a value

Open the participant panel and find Manually entered measurements.

Click Add value, choose the Measurement type, set Measured at and enter the Value. The form shows the Valid range; a value outside it is not accepted.

Save. The value appears in the list.

Correct or delete a value

  • Correct: change the value or time. A new version is stored; the old one stays in the history.
  • Delete: the value no longer counts. Exports and analyses with an earlier data cutoff do not change.

You cannot add values for a participation whose data was deleted or whose deletion was requested.
