Activating the app
Connect the EnaResearch app to your study with the activation card - scan the QR code or enter the codes, choose a 6-digit PIN and allow access to health data.
- Participant app
You connect the EnaResearch app to your study once, with the activation card your research team gives you. The card shows a QR code, the organisation code, your participant code, an activation key and the date until which the key is valid. The key works once and is valid for 14 days, so activate soon after you receive the card.
Before you start
- Install the EnaResearch app.
- Have the activation card at hand.
Activate
Open the EnaResearch app. The first screen says "Join your research study with the activation card from your research team."
Tap Scan activation card and point the camera at the QR code. You can also open the activation link on your phone; the app opens it directly.
If the card cannot be scanned, tap Enter the code manually and enter the Organisation code, the Participant code and the Activation key, then tap Continue. All three are on your card. See Organization code.
If this is your first activation, the app asks you to Choose a PIN: enter a 6-digit New PIN and Repeat PIN, then tap Activate. Do not use a sequence (123456) or a single repeated digit (111111). If you already have a PIN, for example from another study, you are not asked again.
Allow the app to read the health data your study needs. See iPhone and Apple Health or Android and Health Connect.
The home screen then says This device is connected to your study. The first transfer starts on its own.
Your PIN
You also use the PIN to sign in to the participant web area. Keep it to yourself: nobody, including your research team, will ever ask you for it. Keep the card private too.
