Ending a participation
Complete a participation, mark a participant as withdrawn or lost to follow-up, and delete a participant's collected data in EnaResearch.
- Admin panel
A participation in an EnaResearch study ends in one of three ways: it is completed, the participant withdraws, or the participant is lost to follow-up. Separately, you can delete the data collected for a participation, for example when the participant withdraws consent for their data.
Required role
- A member of the study team (PI or Co-I).
The three endings
Use the participant's row menu on the Participants page:
| Action | Status | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Complete participation | Completed | The participation is closed as completed as of now. |
| Mark as withdrawn | Withdrawn | Later data does not enter the study. Optionally, also delete the data collected so far. |
| Mark as lost to follow-up | Lost to follow-up | Consent was not withdrawn but the person cannot be reached. The participation ends; collected data is kept; later data does not enter the study. |
When the study itself ends, active participations are completed automatically.
Delete a participant's data
Use this when the participant withdrew consent for their data:
- When withdrawing, tick Also delete the data collected so far, or
- later, choose Delete participation data from the row menu.
All measurement data collected for this participation in this study is deleted, together with its correction history, clinical records and manual entries. Data that also belongs to another study the person takes part in is kept. The participation record stays, marked Deleting data and then Data deleted. This cannot be undone.
Earlier exports
Files exported before the deletion are not changed by it. Export files are deleted 30 days after they were produced. If the data must not be used, tell everyone who downloaded earlier files.
